245 Houses – Cleadon Lane Industrial Estate

Referendum Result – 95% in favour of the plan
The result of the referendum was released around 11pm on 28 October 2021. 1432 votes were cast with 1,362 (95%) in favour of the Plan and only 70 against. Council approve referendum
At their meeting on 8 September 2021 the Council’s Cabinet agreed that our Neighbourhood Plan meets the various legal requirements and that it should proceed to referendum. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulation Assessment (HRA)
One of the “basic conditions” that will be tested by the independent examiner is whether the making of the Neighbourhood Plan is compatible with relevant legal European and UK obligations including Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulation Assessment (HRA).
Natural Environment Survey
The survey details East Boldon’s environmental and key natural assets, including networks of biodiversity and green infrastructure.
Finalising the Neighbourhood Plan
From January to July 2020 Forum members worked with our consultant to produce a Draft Neighbourhood Plan for community consultation.

Forum Response to Council Consultation on Cycle and Walking Routes
South Tyneside Council have recently carried out a consultation on walking and cycle routes across the Borough.
Forum Housing Needs Survey
East Boldon residents commented on current and perceived future housing needs.

AECOM’s draft document describes the plan area and defines design codes that will inform policy development.
Response to Draft Local Plan
South Tyneside Council released the latest draft of their Local Plan in July 2019 and on behalf of all members the Forum Executive produced a number of documents in response.
Connecting Through Social Media
The launch of East Boldon Forum Facebook page resulted in wider engagement with the community.
Forum Architectural Survey
The survey details the properties on Front Street and Grange Terrace which form the historic core of the conservation area.
Forum Community Character Statement
The statement provides an up to date list of the heritage assets within the plan area.
4th Community Consultation – Remaining Objectives Endorsed
Written endorsement by the community of objectives relating to the local economy, wellbeing, transport links, flooding and the design of new development.
3rd Community Consultation – Objectives Endorsed
Written endorsement by the community of objectives relating to car parking, the natural environment, housing and the Forum’s vision.
Working With Young People
A 3-month project at East Boldon Junior School, to engage pupils in the consultation process and discover their opinions on life in East Boldon.

Businesses and organisations in East Boldon commented on their health and future aspirations.
